48V DCX Power System — Chassis-Mounted Lithium for Caravans

Important purchase requirement
The DCX 48V Power System must be purchased with either an Extra Low Voltage inverter or a Low Voltage inverter, and it requires a DCX cable to operate. Please contact sales@nce.com.au or call 1300 366 024 before ordering.

The 48V DCX Power System is designed and engineered in Australia by OzXcorp to handle long-haul travel and tough conditions. Unlike traditional caravan batteries that take up internal storage, DCX is chassis-mounted, freeing up space in the van and delivering a stronger, safer, reliable energy platform. Distributed nationally by NCE, DCX is supported across Australia and New Zealand with warranty and technical assistance.

Two high-capacity models are available, 14.3kWh and 7.1kWh. Both variants are supplied as a turnkey package with the required mounting hardware and labelled looms so you can integrate them without custom fabrication. The plug-and-power interface and pre-terminated connectors reduce wiring errors and speed up installation compared to conventional systems.

Key reasons to choose DCX

  • Chassis-mounted steel enclosure protects the battery from impact and vibration while freeing up internal cabinetry space.
  • True plug-and-play architecture with integrated battery management, no external BMS required.
  • Connects to a 5kW 240VAC inverter/charger, supports up to 4kW solar, and provides a strong 100A 12V DC output for common loads.
  • Safety-first design with in-cabin thermal alert system, dual aerosol fire suppression, and impact-resistant crush zones.
  • Built for Australian conditions with wide operating temperatures and IP67 ingress protection.
  • Backed nationally with warranty, installation support, and ongoing technical assistance from NCE.

Installation overview

DCX is designed to reduce install time and complexity. The chassis mounting system positions the energy unit outside the living space, reducing heat build-up and freeing cabinetry. Installation typically involves securing the enclosure to rated mounting points, connecting the pre-terminated looms, and integrating a compatible inverter-charger. Additional fusing and isolation should be installed in line with Australian standards. Chassis work and electrical integration must be completed by qualified installers.

Everyday use and performance

DCX 48V supports high-demand appliances such as air conditioners, induction cooktops, and microwaves. With the integrated 12V, 100A output, you can also run common caravan loads reliably. The system is engineered to handle repeated heavy loads and recover quickly, with a Push-to-Power button for instant reboot after deep discharge.

Indicative runtimes (theoretical)

Appliance Typical draw DCX14 (14.3kWh) DCX7 (7.1kWh)
Induction cooktop (medium) 1,000W Up to ~12–13h Up to ~6–7h
Kettle 1,500W Up to ~8–9.5h Up to ~4–5h
Microwave 800W Up to ~15–16h Up to ~8–9h
Efficient caravan fridge 100W avg Up to ~130–140h Up to ~65–70h
Air conditioner 900W avg Up to ~13–14h Up to ~7–8h

Figures are indicative only and assume typical inverter efficiency and usable capacity. Real-world results vary with temperature, load, inverter settings, and user behaviour.

Charging options

  • Compatible 240VAC inverter-charger up to 5kW for fast top-ups at powered sites.
  • Solar array up to 4kW via MPPT controller for off-grid charging.
  • Generator support: use a generator or inverter with minimum 2.2kW output to charge the system and support A/C passthrough up to 1kW.

Safety and compliance

Developed to align with AS/NZS 3001.2 and certified to leading global standards. In-cabin thermal alerts with voice and visual warnings, dual aerosol fire suppression, and comprehensive electrical protections are included as standard.
